This month marked the first honey harvest on Grandfather Mountain. Fifteen months ago Grandfather Mountain started raising its own honey bees. The venture originated because Grandfather President Crae Morton and Trails Manager Luke Appling were both keenly interested in the behavior of bees, and because the company is committed to a healthy environment. This exciting theater drama follows a band of settlers led by the infamous Daniel Boone and the British Dr. Geoffrey Stuart as they head west towards dreams of a new life during the turmoil of the Revolutionary War. British aristocrats, brave mountain men and Native Americans fill the stage to give the audience a one-of-a-kind experience that will not be soon forgotten. Join the adventures and learn how a new country was formed on the basis of freedom.

Before the show, visitors can tour around the Hickory Ridge Homestead, the Horn's own living history museum. The site includes authentic 18th century log cabins with period furnishings and artifacts, as well as reenactors who spin yarn, blacksmith, weave cloth and make corn-husk dolls. See the smoke house and the blacksmith's shop, the 18th century working full-sized loom and rustic wooden pig pen.
