Buckeye Lake in Beech Mountain

Buckeye Lake is a seven-acre lake at the base of the town and one of Beech Mountain's most popular recreation areas. This month marked the first honey harvest on Grandfather Mountain. Fifteen months ago Grandfather Mountain started raising its own honey bees. The venture originated because Grandfather President Crae Morton and Trails Manager Luke Appling were both keenly interested in the behavior of bees, and because the company is committed to a healthy environment. The Mountain's two hives produced enough of the golden deliciousness this summer for the team to draw off a little over two gallons of the sweet treat for the staff to enjoy. Last Chance for Horn in the West this Season

The nation's oldest outdoor Revolutionary War drama concludes it's 2009 season on August 15. The play is celebrating its 58th consecutive season, which has been one of the best yet. August 8 8PM at the Saluda Mountain Jamboree in Saluda NC the Mike Bullman & Kelly Road Band wil be performing. The legendary country music voice of Mike Bullman, along with the band Kelly Road will perform for "Party To The Beat" held each Saturday night at Saluda Mountain Jamboree. Mike and his band will provide an entire evening of dance music.

The doors open at 7:00 pm and the admission is $9.00. The Saluda Mountain Jamboree is easy to find, just off I-26 at Exit # 59 and is a short drive from Hendersonville, Asheville, Spartanburg or Greenville.
