Mitchell's Lodge and Cottages, Highlands North Carolina. Mitchell’s Lodge & Cottages is celebrating its 71st year in 2010! Margaret “Peggy” Mitchell, Al’s grandmother, built the first cabins in 1939. She operated Mitchell’s Motel as it was known then for 40 years. The lodge is in its third generation of operation.
